Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church
"Do Your Best for Jesus Today"

The Deacons are a ministry dedicated to ministring to the needy, sick, and those in distress as delegated by Session.

Deacons are an elected office. Members serve on a variety of committees as they serve a 3 year term. Two consecutive terms may be served.

The term "deacon" comes from the Greek term diakonos, and simply means servant.

The Deacons of Saxonburg Memorial Church believe it is our privilege to serve, through a vaiety of activities, to the body of Christ

HELPING HANDS

Helping Hands is a quiet ministry. Most of its works remain as confidential matters between the Chairperson and the Pastor.

Deacons host several fund raisers throughout the year in an effort to raise funds to provide financial assistance for emergency situation, shelter, clothing, transportation, or holiday meals to individuals or families in need. Recipients may be from the Church and/or the Community.

A food cupboard is maintained for those in need.

The Deacons also coordinate meals for families facing hospitalization, serious illness, or the birth of a new baby.

PRAYER COMMITTEE

The prayer committee is a ministry of prayer warriors. All prayer requests are called into the committee chairperson who contacts a phone chain of volunteers. Volunteers may be deacons and/or members of the congregation.
Members intercede on behalf of others in need by lifting up specific requests, concerns, emergency, and praise situations to God. Requests are kept confidential.

COMMUNION COMMITTEE

The Deacon members of the Communion Committee assist the church family in the observance of the Lord's Supper by maintaining an adequate inventory of materials and supplies, preparing the elements of communion and overseeing the gathering, cleaning and storing of equipment after each observance.
